Sustaining Chico’s Values
As Vice-Mayor, I have been honored to serve on the Chico City Council these past four years. With your support I hope to continue public service, particularly as Sustainability Task Force Chair to preserve Chico’s unique heritage. I am proud of my work to distinguish Chico as an environmental leader, including completion of the City’s first Green House Gas emissions audit.
My voting record reflects my values.
- Fought to preserve 700+ acres of Bidwell Ranch near the park as open space,
- Prevented development encroachment near our foothills,
- Endorsed the US Mayor’s Climate Control Agreement,
- Introduced a recommendation to prohibit City purchase of single serving bottles of water using city funds for city-funded or sponsored events,
- Oversaw the completion of a Green House Gas emissions audit,
- Developed programs and initiatives to distinguish Chico as an environmental leader as chair of the Sustainability Task Force,
- Expanded creekside greenways with purchase of property along Comanche Creek.
When I moved to Chico in 1975, I discovered the warm, welcoming com¬munity of my dreams. I was proud to call Chico home from the start, and my ongoing involvement through community service has deepened that pride. I strongly believe in community service and live by this ethic in my personal and professional life
.As program manager for Community Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE), I encourage university students to serve our community while gaining valuable hands-on experience. My husband and I own Campus Bicycles so I understand the importance of small business and value downtown as the heart of our community. I’ve enjoyed serving as a board member for Chico Velo Cycling Club, and volunteering as a Bidwell Park Watch member and for KCHO radio.
I remain committed to preserving Chico’s heritage as we progress into the future. My priority is to continue to sustain Chico’s values and make Chico an even more special place to live. By honoring traditions, embracing diversity, and welcoming civil conversations on hard issues, we can improve our environment, strengthen our economy, and enhance our community.
Together we can sustain Chico’s values and create a lasting vision for a livable community.
