Goals

Values & Vision for a Livable Community

It has been an honor to serve on the Chico City Council these past four years, and with your support I hope to continue this service. As Vice Mayor and Sustainability Task Force Chair, I remain committed to preserving Chico’s unique heritage.

I believe community is created when citizens act together on behalf of shared values. I will serve the citizens of Chico by building build a bridge of communication between the council and our community. My values of honoring our traditions, embracing diversity, and engaging in civil discourse will be reflected in the decisions I will make as a Council Member for our community.

As a continuing member of the Chico City Council I will:

  • SUPPORT appropriate alternative transportation projects, for pedestrians as well as bicyclists—making it possible for people of all ages to walk or bike throughout Chico, safely and enjoyably
  • PROTECT Chico’s future through comprehensive, thoughtful planning, and actively support local heritage by preserving and enhancing Chico’s uniqueness—its wonderful parks, tree-lined boulevards, livable neighborhoods, and vibrant downtown
  • STRENGTHEN Chico’s downtown core, provide suitable support for small business, and encourage the local development of tourism—a clean, nonintrusive industry with great growth potential
  • EXPLORE new ways to attract, develop, and support other appropriate, clean industries in Chico, from innovative small businesses and manufacturing to high technology
  • ENCOURAGE budgetary discipline for the city, by tending to Chico’s current needs while planning for a sustainable future
  • CREATE new opportunities for local volunteerism, by finding new ways to engage all citizens—including CSU, Chico students—in community service
